Product Description It's Baby's birthday, but where is his cake? Little ones will love lifting the large, sturdy flaps to find Baby's birthday cake in this new Karen Katz board book. Children will discover sparkly foil objects under each flap until they finally find Baby's yummy, shimmery birthday cake on the final page of this adorable new title.

wonderful birthday present June 15, 2009 knitting zeal (Willow Grove, PA United States) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
I bought this book for my son a few months prior to his first birthday to help him learn about the birthday celebration. I also didn't want him to be frightened at his first birthday party with everyone singing to him, which is a lot of stimuli for a baby, so this book helped prepare him. This book is very colorful, filled with sparkley foiled pages and lots of cute surprises. It quickly became one of his favorite stories to read and was a well loved book. I now buy it as a first birthday gift for all the babies in our life. Karen Katz has yet again created a delightful book filled with whimisical illustrations that capture a baby's attention. The "lift the flaps" concept is wonderful for babies and toddlers. This board book is sturdy, but not indestructible. The flaps are glued on, so they can be torn off, but they do repair reasonably well. A great addition to baby's library!

My 1 year old daughter loves to read so we have purchased numerous children's books recently. I have bought several of Karen Katz's books and have been completely happy with each one. She is a wonderful children's author, and her illustrations are great! The books are enjoyable to read to my daughter because they tell a simple story and get my daughter involved in the book by lifting the flaps. The flaps are pretty durable. I have had to repair a few pages so far, but that is to be expected with these types of books and one year old hands. We love Karent Katz and you will too!

We purchased this to prepare our grand-daughter for her first b-day. She loves the sparkly cover, the lift-the-flaps, and especially the ending. I wish the last picture had matched the cover and been more attractive...
